Seats will be reserved on a First-come-first-serve basis. Please make your cheque payable to “Diocesan School Old Boys’ Association Ltd” and send it to 131 Argyle Street, Mongkok, Kowloon or pay into DSOBA bank account (HSBC A/C No.: 111-170312-001). Please remember to send us the bank receipt once you have transferred the fee to us.

Please also note that as many different members have put in a lot of time and effort in securing the appropriate venue at reasonable prices for all participants and because we have had experiences in the past whereby many old boys made last-minute booking but without effecting payment as prescribed and then some even do not show up eventually without prior-notice to the Club, it has become extremely tedious and cumbersome for the organizers to estimate the turn-up rate so to make the appropriate booking of tables and space and to guarantee a minimum to the chosen restaurant/club . This type of irresponsible action is not ” DBS-like ” and certainly not condoned by the Committee because it causes dis-array for the organizers and therefore out of courtesy to the organizers and the Club, we are setting a new rule effective immediately that once you make your reservation to attend the event, you will be deemed to have accepted to make payment regardless of whether you show up or not and payment must be received before the deadline in order to guarantee your booking. All payments made are non-refundable but are transferable.

Global Career Forum 2014

Global Career Forum on 1 November, 2014 (Saturday)

DSOBA and DBS Centre for Further Studies will be hosting this year’s Global Career Forum at 2:00pm on 1 November 2014 at the School Hall. In previous years, this event was called “University Day”. We would like to invite you to help out at this event.

DSOBA and DBS Centre for Further Studies have been hosting this event for many years with a lot of success, and this event has always been well received by current DBS boys and their parents. The event is aimed at helping upper form students to better understand and plan their higher education and career roadmap after DBS. In the past, the focus was on the university application process and choice of universities. Last year, we took a more rounded approach aiming to provide guidance regarding career options beyond their higher education. We will be doing so again this year, and with a view to better reflecting this approach, the name of the event has been changed to “Global Career Forum”.

The overall format of the event is similar to previous years’. Old boys will be sharing tips and advice with the students in a discussion group setting. We hope to have representatives from each of the four DSOBA professional chapters (medical, legal, IT and media, and design building and architecture) and graduates from a wide range of universities (Hong Kong, UK, USA and Australia) on hand to share their experience with the students.

It is intended to be informative but informal. No preparation should be needed, and you will just need to “speak your mind”. We plan to kick start the event with an optional lunch at 12:30pm in the Glass Pavilion. The discussion forum will start at 2 pm in the School Hall. The entire event should finish at around 4.30 pm.

We would like to invite you to attend and help out. Please let us know if you are interested and you can contact Maggie Ho or Sonia Huen at 2713-5268 or maggie@dsoba.org/ sonia@dsoba.org

We look forward to your support.

Yours sincerely,

Jerry Chang
