In December 2008, Denise (何韻詩) my daughter's foundation "HOCC Charity Fund" has released a documentary DVD "Decameron" and a book about some Hong Kong artists and people at different levels of madness. The aim is to explore into the inner world of the minority group of mentally ill patients and bring to the general public a better picture of their needs. At the same time, we hope to find more positive platforms and channels to accommodate them and extend to them some feasible assistance. An exhibition was held with the same theme to raise fund during Christmas.

As a finale of this whole project, she is going to hold a concert entitled "Happiness is Free (快樂是免費的) on Sunday, the 8th February 2009 in the field of Diocesan Boys' School. This concert will be admission free. During this period of bad economy, she likes to provide an afternoon of free music and let those who come to this concert be relaxed from pressure. Most important of all, she hopes to spread the message that happiness can actually be a very simple thing.

You are welcome to come join our celebration, our finale showcase on February 8. Also, please help us spread the word, send this notice out to all your friends and family.

Come share our happiness.
SEE YOU THEN! : D

Starting from 27 June 2008, our DSOBA Social Activities Sub-Committee started to hold a Monthly Happy Hour Drink Session for our DSOBA Members and other DBS Old Boys at Lan Kwai Fong, Central, on Friday Night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..

Different Venues including Fong Underground, Post 97 and Q 97 have been used for our Drink Session. We are very grateful to have 20 and something to 30 and something people participated in our events each time.

Our Happy Hour Drink Session has provided a very good platform for our Old Boys to know each other and share our daily lives and career development.

Many special thanks to all DSOBA General Committee Members, our Secretary Ms Amy Au-Yeung and everybody who has given support to our events to make this Happy Hour Drink Session a really ‘Happy Hour’

The DSOBA Dinner Talk by Mr Thomas Chow Wai Tong (’54) was held on 15 October 2008 at the Chinese Club, Central.

The Theme of this Dinner Talk was ‘The Undercovered Stories’ of DBS from the time of the Second World War till the end of the 1960’s. 41 people including the Old Boys and Guests attended the event. With the very lively and interesting sharing by Mr Tong, the whole atmosphere was full of joy and happiness.

Mr Tong illustrated the Stories of our Past Headmasters including Mr Goodban, Rev She, Mr Lowcock and Sir Oswald Cheung. Also, the lives of our students including Day Boys and Borders were fully described.

As the M.C. of the event, I gave Mr Tong a very welcoming introduction and mastered the session for Q & A. Many Old Boys were very aggressive to ask Mr Tong questions about the past life of DBS Students, the past DBS Headmasters and the period when Dr Sun Yet-sen was studying in our School.

Hereby, I would like to thank Mr Tong for spending so much of his precious time to prepare and share this Talk with us, DSOBA President Mr Desmond Yip(’82) for presenting the souvenir, Mr Steve Chan(’75) for taking the Photos, our Secretary Amy & other members of staff for arranging the venue and attendance list and everyone who has participated in this event.
